VANCOUVER - The first contender has stepped forward for outgoing finance minister Carole Taylor's seat in the riding of Vancouver-Langara.

Dr. Moira Stilwell, who heads the nuclear medicine program at St. Paul's and Surrey Memorial hospitals, announced today she is seeking the Liberal nomination in the riding, according to a written release.

Taylor announced earlier this year that she is stepping down from provincial politics.

Stilwell also sits on the board of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and served as chair of the foundation in B.C. for four years.

She and her husband, cardiac surgeon Dr. Sam Lichtenstein have three children.
